Type — Personal Project

DT Neustadt

was a short type design experiment in September 2020. After a project in the german city of Halle (Saale) I challenged myself and tried to translate parts of the city's infrastructure into letters. One district in the western part called ‘Halle-Neustadt’ or shorter ‘Ha-Neu’ showed potential for shapes that might be recognizable as letters.

I recreated the forms in ‘Glyphs’ and reduced the level of detail to a minimum. At this point, I moved away from the recreating part to creating new letters out of existing components, due to the lack of missing forms I needed for letters like Q or W.
